My Roles and Responsibilities
I am responsible for all data entry into the Systems of Record for Canopius. I have a small team onshore and 30 people offshore in India who do the data entry. It is my responsibility to ensure the data held in our systems is as accurate and robust as possible. My team onshore act as co-ordinators between the Underwriting teams and offshore, resolving queries, issues and validating the data.
I have worked in the Insurance industry for 30 years – Before Canopius I was at Aon where I was Insurance Operations and Outsource Director heading up a team of 70 people who worked in the Invoice to Cash area. I have worked at several Managing Agents, Brokers and Service Companies in my career and have a broad operational understanding of the Industry. I have managed staff for the last 20 years.
Why am I on Connect?
I feel I have a lot to offer people new to our industry – Having no proper qualifications meant I started at the bottom (literally – filing in a basement) and worked my way up. I also want to give people a broader view of Insurance, so many are focussed on Underwriting or Broking but maybe don’t realise some of the other background roles that are key to the success of the business that are equally rewarding. Connect seems like a brilliant concept that I instantly wanted to be involved in.
Whom would I like to mentor?
I don’t have any preconceived preference as to who. Anybody who wants to know about opportunities in this market outside Underwriting/Broking – People who feel they can’t get on because they mucked up school or maybe people who have shied away from office work as they didn’t think they could do it?
